The final grade is determined by both an exam and a graded programming project. Exercises are voluntary and do not account for the final grade. They are however highly recommended.

• Exam:
  
  
  • Unless there will be very few participants, in which case we will offer an oral exam, there will be a written exam at the end of the term. Date and time need yet to be fixed.
  • In the exam you can reach up to 34 points corresponding to the following grades.
    • [0,4) points: 5,0
    • [4,9) points: 4,7
    • [9,14) points: 4,3
    • [14,16] points: 4,0
    • (16,18] points: 3,7
    • (18,20] points: 3,3
    • (20,22] points: 3,0
    • (22,24] points: 2,7
    • (24,26] points: 2,3
    • (26,28] points: 2,0
    • (28,30] points: 1,7
    • (30,32] points: 1,3
    • (32,34] points: 1,0
  
  
• Programming Project:
  • You will be asked to implement some of the algorithms presented and discussed in the lecture. You are strongly encouraged to work in groups of two. The grade is determined by both the number of objectives met and a brief interview in which you are required to describe your contribution to the project.
  • Preliminary schedule
    • The first part of the assignment will be published in November.
    • In December, the solutions to the first part will be handed in and the second part of the assignment will be released.
    • The solution to the second part is to be handed in in January.
  • You can receive up to 3 points for each part, i.e. up to 6 points altogether.
• Final Grade:
  • The final grade is determined by taking the better of the exam grade (see the table above) and the grade corresponding the sum of points in the exam and the programming project (see the table below). Thus by participating in the programming project you can only improve your grade.
  • The sum of the points in the exam and the points for the programming assignment reaches up to 34+6=40 points and corresponds to the following grades.
    • [0,5) points: 5,0
    • [5,11) points: 4,7
    • [11,17) points: 4,3
    • [17,19) points: 4,0
    • [19,22) points: 3,7
    • [22,24) points: 3,3
    • [24,26) points: 3,0
    • [26,28) points: 2,7
    • [28,30) points: 2,3

    • [32,34) points: 1,7
    • [34,36) points: 1,3
    • [36,40] points: 1,0
